Thank you! I hate to see it when people are caught off guard every year. It's easy to be lulled into a false security when it comes to frost around here. :-)

For sure. It has happened to us multiple times. We’re in Illinois, and this time of year tricks me every time

Such helpful tips. I typically wait until around memorial day weekend before I plant. In the past, I've done a lot of scrambling covering everything up when there was a forecast of frost.

Hey Amy! I ended up with 3 maple trees but they came in a truck from California. Two have leaves already on them. I have them in the garage to acclimate for now, but when do you think it's safe to plant them?

They're in good sized containers? I would give it a couple of weeks just to be on the safe side. Set them outside during the day and bring them in at night if it's going to be even close to freezing. Hate to nip them!

They are actually not in very big containers... I will start setting them out during the day though!
