This is a great reminder to pay attention and relish our surroundings. I have some "regular" walks and hikes. I notice something new or different each time. I feel so fortunate to be able to take these walks and hikes. I make an effort to be mindful of the beauty that surrounds me.
Thank you! Fortunately, I learned a long time ago that I really know nothing. Over four decades of gardening was an early lesson, and my time working with nature solidified my lack of knowledge. But that's okay! It's so much fun to learn! Have a lovely week, Thalia!
I like to visit the same paths myself. It saves looking and searching for that new experience and lets me enjoy being in nature when I know generally what I will find. As you point out, the vegetation changes, there are different wildlife sightings, and even the people on the trail that day are different.
Sometimes we get all excited about a new place, and then it just isn’t that interesting. Why not visit things you love more than once?
This is so true, Tim! While I love to explore a new trail as much as anyone, I really appreciate the familiarity walking around home so often. Last night, Zeke and I spotted this big whitetail buck that typically doesn't come around until closer to fall. Looks like that's a sign that the summer is coming to an end.
I love the Buddhist thought that says (I'm hope I'm paraphrasing correctly) "You can never step into the same river twice." Every time we see the land or the sky or the sea, it is both the same and different. Pay attention! I say to myself often. Thanks for a beautiful reminder.

See! You get it, too! Thank you for touching base, Daria, and sharing your experiences.
Amy- I like your deep thinking on "doing" vs. "knowing," especially in trail recognition. Hope you're well this week? Cheers, -Thalia
